Ingredients:
Ingredients:
5 ½ lbs Apples, peeled and rough chopped (I use 1 or 2 different types of apples, just depending on your taste) I like whatever is on special!
4 cups sugar (I cut this down by at least ½ cup initially otherwise it can be too sweet depending on your apples. You can always add more sugar later on in cooking)
2 -3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Place apples in a large bowl.

Combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt.

Pour over apples and mix well.

Place in crock pot, cover and cook on high for 1 hour.

Decrease heat to low; cover and cook on low for 9-11 hours or until thickened and dark brown, stirring occasionally.

Uncover and cook on low for 1 hour longer.

If desired, whisk until smooth.

Spoon into jars or freezer containers, leaving 1/2-inch head space. Can either be frozen or kept in the refrigerator for several weeks.
