1 c. raisins
1 1/2 c. water
1 egg, slightly beaten
2 cups flour
1 c. sugar
1tsp.each :
soda,cinnamon,nutmeg & cloves
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. boiling water
1/2 cup vegetable oil

Directions:
Directions:
Boil raisins in water until there is 1 cup liquid remaining. Allow to cool. Add sugar and egg. Add flour which has been mixed with the soda; spices which have been mixed with the tbsp. of boiling water, and lastly the vegetable oil, (or melted shortening).
Bake in 13"X9" pan at 325 degrees for 40-50 minutes.

This is our family's favorite recipe passed down from Dean's mother, Dorothy McCament. She made it often for Sunday dinners, (which you could count on almost every week). She always made it for a very special lifelong friend, Mabel Russell on her birthday,as it was her favoriye, too.
