6 slices old bread - trimmed and quartered
4 to 5 eggs beaten
1 cup milk
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. grated cheddar cheese which I use or 4 slices of American cheese
pepper to taste
1 lb. cooked sausage (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Spray or grease casserole dish and line bottom with bread. If you are NOT using sausage, dot with butter. Add sausage, cheese and pour milk and egg mixutre w/salt & pepper. Preheat oven to 350º. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until bubbly and brown. Serve hot.
Can be prepared the night before and refrigerated for baking the next morning.
