1 cup butter
1 cup shortening
1 cup powdered sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
4 cups flour
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter, shortening, and both sugars. Add eggs, beat well. Add flour mixed with cream of tartar and baking soda. Add vanilla. Roll in small balls (coated with sugar). Place on greased cookie sheets. Flatten with glass dipped in granulated sugar. Bake at 350º for 8-10 minutes or until light tan. Makes a large batch and freezes well.
