1 c. shortening
2 c. confectioner's sugar
1/2 tsp. butter flavoring
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 Tbsp. white Karo syrup (HFCS)
1/2 - 1 c. milk
(if humid, add 1 Tbsp cornstarch)

Directions:
Directions:
Mix everything but milk together in a large bowl. Add milk slowly until you reach desired consistency. Remove frosting (if any) to be used for decorating. Add more milk to spreadable consistency.
Always keep frosting covered with a damp towel or seal tightly in an airtight container (even while working on cake).

This is Mary Ebert's recipe that we (she and I) used to frost the cake for our wedding reception at the Greenville Country Club. Mary was a good friend of my parents, of mine, and the mother of my oldest friend, Becky Eberts Robertson.
