1 cup water (reserve 1/2 cup cooking liquid)
1 cup raisins

Dough:
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
3/4 t baking soda
2 cups flour
1 t cinnamon
2 cups oatmeal
1/2 tsp salt

Frosting:
3-4 T shortening*
vanilla
powdered sugar
milk

Directions:
Directions:
Before you begin- cook 1 cup of water, 1 cup raisins; to soften & plump. Save 1/2 cup raisin water for use in cookies.

Cream together 3/4 cup shortening and 1 cup sugar. Add 2 eggs, 3/4 t. soda, 2 cups flour, 1 tsp cinnamon, 2 cups oatmeal, 1/2 tsp salt. Then add raisin water, and fold in the cup of plumped raisins.

Frosting: 3-4 T shortening, vanilla and enough powdered sugar and milk for a nice frosting. Frost after the cookies are cool.
