3/4 cup shortening
1 cup white sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup dark molasses
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups sifted flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening, sugar, molasses & egg. Beat well. Sift flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon & salt together. Add this to the1st mixture. Mix well. Chill and form into 1 inch balls & roll in sugar. Place about 2 inches apart on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for approx. 8-10 minutes.

This recipe is what my mother, Burnice Burklund Walston uses to make her Molasses cookies. This was her Aunt Edith Burklunds' recipe. These cookies are awesome!
