2/3 cup olive oil
1 large onion - chopped
4 garlic cloves - chopped or 1tbsp jarred
1 small can of Hunts tomato paste
3-4 large cans of Hunts crushed tomatoes
1/3 cup Fresh or Dried parsley
1/4 cup Fresh or dried basil
2 Tbsp Kosher salt
1 Tbsp black pepper
1/4 c sugar
1 large bay leaf or 2 small

Directions:
Heat olive oil on large pot over low heat
Add onions and sauté until translucent or soft approx . 5 -8 mins.
Add garlic sauté 2 mins. Make sure it doesn't brown dark
Add tomato paste and 1 can of water
Stir to combine
Add large cans of crushed tomatoes
Add all spices and stir to combine
Heat on a medium low simmer for 1 hour stirring occasionally
If bubbling too much lower heat , make sure sauce is not sticking to bottom of pot.
Continue to cook on low for 2-3 hours .
Salt to taste
For a quicker sauce , cut recipe in half and cook in a short and lower size pot for 1 1/2 hours .

Make a large pot of this sauce and freeze in containers for quick easy meals .
Add sauce to pastas , soups and meat

My favorite part of making this sauce was hearing you girls and dad say how good it smelled and how you would all want to dip the bread in immediately and I had just started the sauce ... wasn't ready for dipping !
