1 lb ground beef

4-6 carrots sliced thin
2 cloves garlic
1 can (28 oz) crushed or chopped tomatoes
30 oz tomato sauce
2 cans (15 oz ea) drained red beans
4 cups water
2 Tbsp parley flakes-dried
1 tsp oregano
2 tsp basil leaves

1/4 head sliced cabbage
1 cup small elbow macaroni (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
In 8 quart pan brown ground beef and sausage and add all ingredients down to the corn. Simmer for 20 minutes, uncovered. Add corn, green beans and cabbage and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes. You may need to add more water. I do not add salt as the beef base has some salt in it. I have never added the macaroni either.

This recipe is one of Uncle Tyler's favorites. It freezes well and came from a farm friend when we lived in Illinois
