3 cups sugar
12 oz can evaporated milk
3/4 cup cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Combine sugar, cocoa, butter, milk and salt.
Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low to medium. Cook until mixture forms a soft ball when dropped in a glass of cold water. Remove from burner. Stir in vanilla and nuts. Stir mixture for a minute. Pour into an 8 X 10 buttered pan.

This was Nanny Kemp's recipe. I try to fix each Christmas in her memory. It can be tempermental at times and not harden as it should. It's wonderful when it does.
