1/2 C Crisco
2 C Sugar
2 Eggs
1-1/2 C Thick Unsweetened Applesauce
2-1/2 C Sifted Flour
1-12 tsp Soda
1-1/2 tsp Salt
1 tsp Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Cloves
1/4 tsp Allspice
1/2 C Water
1/2 C Chopped Walnuts
1 C Raisins (cut up)

Directions:
Directions:
Set oven to 350º Lightly grease and flour a 13 X 9" pan.
Cream sugar and crisco together with a mixer. Add eggs one at a time and beat after each is added. Add the applesauce and beat until mixed into the creamed mixture. Sift dry ingredients into the wet mixture and mix with the mixer until well blended, scraping the sides of the bowl. Stir in nuts and raisins and pour batter into prepared pan. Bake for approximately 45 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into the middle of the cake. Remove pan from the oven and let cool on a rack. When completely cooled, icing cake with the Creamy Raisin/Nut Frosting also in this cookbook.
