2 cups brown sugar
1/2 large cup lard (!)
3 eggs
4 teacups flour
1 tspn. baking soda
vanilla
salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream brown sugar and lard together. Add eggs and mix. Add flour, baking soda, dash of vanilla and salt to mixture. Form dough into roll and leave overnite in the refrigerator. Cut off and bake as wanted.

This is Hazel Brown's recipe. She really used lard! Peg Brown tried making these for Ralph after Hazel died but they never tasted quite the same, even when she used lard.
