. 3 med. sized kohlrabi
. 3 med. sized potatoes

1/2 loaf stale bread cut into pieces. Set aside for dumplings.
2 eggs
flour
2 tsp. baking powder

Directions:

Dice all the vegetables and place in a large pot. Add enough water to cover the vegetables. Cook for approx. 1 hour or until vegetables are soft.

While the vegetables are cooking make the dumplings. Put the bread cubes in water for a couple of seconds. Squeeze out all the water. Add the 2 eggs and mix well. Then add enough flour to make a dough that is easy to handle. Add the baking powder with the flour. Shape into patties and fry the patties in hot oil or lard until both sides are brown. Once the vegetables are almost soft add the dumplings and cook soup for another 10 to 15 min.

Personal Notes:
This was a soup that Mom Renneberg always made when the kohlrabi was ready to pick. It became a favorite in my family too although some of the in-laws didn't like it!
For the dumplings I always use home made bread as the bought bread gets too gooey when you put it in water.
