1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp Baking powder
1 tsp Baking soda
1/2 tsp Salt
3/4 cup Raisins (or dried cranberries, blueberries etc)

1 cup buttermilk or sour milk
1 cup natural bran

1/3 cup cooking oil
3 tbsp. molasses
1 egg
1/4 cup brown sugar - packed
1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl combine flour, baking powder, soda, salt and raisins. Stir well. Push up around side of bowl, making a well in the center.

In another bowl stir sour milk and bran, Let stand for 5 minutes.
(To make sour milk, add milk to 1 tbsp. vinegar to measure 1 cup)

Add remaining ingredients to bran mixture in the order given, Beat with a spoon until mixed. Pour into well. Stir just to moisten. Batter will be lumpy. Fill greased muffin cups, or paper liner cups 3/4 full. Bake in a 375F oven for 20-25 minutes.
