2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. butter
2 eggs
chopped walnuts
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar
3 1/2 c. flour
pinch salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream brown sugar and butter. Add eggs then nuts. Sift dry ingredients and add to the wet. Roll into small, long rolls. Wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight. The next day cut in slices and bake at 350 for about 10 minutes.

Mom always did a crosshatch with the back of a fork, like what you see on peanut butter cookies, on each one. Not sure why, but it's tradition.
