3/4 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1/4 c. molasses
1 egg
2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon

Directions:
Directions:
Melt shortening with sugar. LET COOL. Add molasses and beaten egg. Mix dry ingredients together and add. Mix. CHILL. Roll into balls and coat with granulated sugar. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. Better when stored in an airtight container and eaten the second day.

This was a favorite treat as a teenager.
