1/2 c. + 6 TBLSP shortening
3/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
3 c. old fashioned rolled oats

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugars, eggs and vanilla until creamy. Add dry ingredients with oats last. Drop by spoonfuls onto cookie sheet and bake at 350 for 12 minutes.

Jack likes his cookies with chopped apples mixed in, but chocolate chips or raisins are also delicious.
