Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 c. flour
2 tblsp. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 c. margarine
1 beaten egg
2/3 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Stir together dry ingredients. Cut in margarine til mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Combine egg and milk, then add all at once, mixing just enough to moisten. Roll to 1/2 inch thickness, then cut out 6 biscuits with a cutter. Bake on ungreased baking sheet at 450 for 10 minutes. Split, butter bottom layer, then fill with fruit and whipped cream, adding more on top.

This is the way my mother made it, and to me this is the only "real" way to eat strawberry shortcake.
