1 27 ounce can of Sauerkraut
3 tablespoons of butter
3 tablespoons of flour
8 tablespoons of sugar
1/2 cup water

Directions:
Directions:
1. Place one 27 oz can of Sauerkraut in a pot and heat on low
2. Make a roux: In a fry pan melt the 3 tablespoons of butter. Add the flour and stir until the mixture bubbles
3. Add the roux to the Sauerkraut
4. Take half a cup of water and add to fry pan. Heat and dissolve the roux that remained in the fry pan. Add this to the sauerkraut
5. Add the eight tablespoons of sugar and mix through
6. Increase the heat to medium and bring to a boil. Once boiled you can turn it off

Water and sugar can be decreased or increased to match your own tastes

This dish's recipe was given to my mother by my father's mother, Elsa, who was from Austria. Ellen recently found a recipe card that my mother dictated to me over 40 years ago! I spoke to Linda and she had planned , before talking with me, to try to figure out the recipe and make it that day! Ma must be watching us! Ma only used to make this dish when she made duck. Linda made some variations which she will share with you
