1 c. yellow corn meal
1 c. all-purpose flour
2-4 T. sugar
2 T. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. paprika
1 egg
1 scant c. buttermilk
2 T. vegetable oil
1/4 c. finely chopped onion
1/3 c. finely chopped jalapeno

In a large bowl, combine dry ingredients. Add egg, buttermilk and oil. Mix until faily smooth, then stir in onion and pepper.

Drop by tablespoons in hot oil and fry until done.
