Bill's Navy Bean Soup Recipe

4 lbs. navy beans
1 tbsp. salt
1 tsp. pepper
1 bay leaf
6 oz. margarine
3/4 cup flour
water
1 lb. diced country ham or a ham bone

Directions:
Directions:
Soak beans in water overnight. Rinse and put beans and ham into a large pot. Fill pot with water almost to the top. Add the salt, pepper and bay leaf. Cook beans until soft. In a separate sauce pan melt the margarine and add the flour. Add 2 cups of liquid from the beans. Stir until creamy and then add it back into the bean soup.
