Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 ½ c. sugar
¼ tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. each of cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg (I always double)
¾ tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 2/3 c. flour
½ c. oil
½ c. water
1 c. pumpkin
2 eggs

Directions:
Directions:
Cream sugar and oil; add eggs one at a time. Combine dries. Combine wets. Blend alternately into the first mixture, starting and ending with dries. (If you like walnuts chop lots and add to the dries before blending). Pour mixture into greased and floured loaf pans. Bake at 350 1 to 1 ½ hours. Some people (not me) like raisins in this bread.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
“This pumpkin bread is so good that Tante always asks for it instead of a birthday cake. When I can, I make this at Thanksgiving and overnight it to Denver. The original recipe is in Mom’s handwriting, and even though protected by a plastic baggie, is disintegrating because it’s been made so many times.” Barbara Stevens
