Ingredients: 3/4 cups Crisco shortening 1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar 2 tablespoons milk - whole 1 tablespoon vanilla 1 egg 1 3/4 cups all purpose flour 1 tsp salt 3/4 tsp baking soda 1 cup semi sweet chocolate chips 1 cup chopped pecans- toasted for about 8 minutes 1/2 tsp orange zest
Note: If nuts are omitted add additional 1/2 cups of chocolate chips

Directions:Heat oven to 375 degrees Combine shortening, brown sugar, milk and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture just until blended. STIR in chocolate chips and pecans.. Drop rounded tablespoonfuls of dough 3 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake one sheet at a time at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes chewy Bake 11 to 13 minutes for crisp cookies Do Not Overbake - Cool about 3 minutes before removing to clean sheet to cool completely |

Notes: I've used this recipe for many years. Not really sure when it actually came out. Its the best recipe I've ever tried. Crisco published this recipe. the only thing I do different is add orange zest. great cookies!
