2 sticks butter or 1 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups flour
1/4 tsp. soda
1/2 pint sour cream or 1 cup of buttermilk
2 tsp. vanilla, can use lemon or almond
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each egg. Combine soda and sour cream; mix well. Add flour and cream, alternating to end with flour. Add a little salt in batter. Pour into a greased tube or bundt pan. Bake at 350º for one hour and 25 minutes or until done. Don't open oven to see if it's done until it cooks an hour!
