3 1/2 sifted flour
1 package active dry yeast
1 1/4 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup crisco or butter
1 teaspoon salt
1 egg

Directions:
In a large mixer bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of the flour and the yeast. Heat together milk, sugar, crisco and salt until warm; stir occasionally to melt the crisco. Add to dry ingredients in mixer bowl; add egg. Beat at low speed for ½ minute; scrape sides of bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes at high speed. Stir in enough of the remaining flour to make a soft dough. Place in greased bowl; turn once to grease surface. Cover; let rise until double, 1-1 ½ hours. Punch down; turn out on lightly floured surface, cover and let rest 10 minutes. roll out dough into circle shape and cut 18 wedges, rolling them up into crescent shape. Place on baking sheet, cover and let shaped rolls rise until double, 30-45 minutes. Bake in a 400º oven for 12-15 minutes.

To prepare this recipe ahead, prepare dinner rolls as above, but do not let rise. Cover and chill for 2 hours or up to 4-5 days. About 2 hours before serving, shape dough, cover and let rise until double-1 1/4 hours; bake as above.
