Ingredients:
Ingredients:
4 cups of self-rising flour
3 cups of sugar
3 sticks of butter - room temperature
6 large eggs - room temperature
1 Cup of milk - room temperature
1 Cup of sour cream
1 tsp. of vanilla
1 tsp. of lemon

Directions:
Directions:
10" Tube pan - greased and floured well. Preheat the oven to 325.
Sift your flour once or twice... I like to do this twice to ensure that it mixes well. In a large bowl - beat eggs and sugar together as stated below:
Start by mixing 2 eggs at a time, mix in sugar gradually until a very creamy texture. Then alternate adding 1 cup of flour at a time. Once the batter begins to blend, add the milk, at the end dump in the sour cream and the flavoring. Mix until batter is very smooth.

Pour the batter into the tube pan and bake for 1 hour. Test the top of the cake with a fork. If it comes out clean, the cake is done. Remove from oven and allow the cake to sweat for approximately 10 minutes in the pan. Loosen the cake edges before removing from the pan.

Personal Notes:
This was the first cake I learned to bake. My Mom was always baking this quick cake for Sunday dessert. It was eaten with ice cream and she also used it for strawberry short cake. My Uncle Malachi Weston always had me bake this cake for him when I was as young as 10 years old.
