Ingredients: 8 slices of bread, can be cinnamon raisin, french toast bread, white, oatmeal, wheat, what ever is your favorite, great for using up your less than fresh bread butter, softened to room temperature so it spreads easily raisins 4 eggs 2 cups milk, plus more to top off if not enough

Directions:Heat oven to 375º
Baking dish 8 1/2 X6 X 2 1/2
Spread both sides of bread with butter and layer in baking dish sprinkling raisins in between the layers. Continue layering buttered bread and raisins until it is within 1/2 inch from top ending with a layer of bread.
Beat eggs together with milk and pour over the bread and butter. Add more milk until the milk is at the top of the bread.
Bake in preheated oven approximately 40 minutes, until knife comes out clean. If the top starts to brown too quickly, cover loosely with aluminum foil. |

Notes: John's mother used to make this for him when he was young. It tastes particularly good with a cinnamon raisin or french toast bread.Try substituting dried cranberries instead of raisins, or any other dried fruit. If using a white bread or a bread that is not sweet, try adding a little sugar to the egg mixture, or leave it out for a more savory taste.
This can be made the night before, cover with plastic wrap and place in refrigerator, in the morning remove plastic wrap and bake.
