1 homemade pie crust or ready-made crust
5 1/2 c peeled, cored, sliced cooking apples
1 T. lemon juice
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
3 T. flour
1/2 t. cinnamon
1/4 t. nutmeg

Topping:

3/4 c. flour
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. brown sugar, packed
1/3 c. butter or margarine, room temperature

1. Preheat oven to 375º

2. Fit pie crust into pie plate

3. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, lemon juice, both sugars, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Pile into crust.

4. Prepare topping: In a medium bowl, with a pastry blender or fork, mix flour, both sugars, and butter until coarsely crumbled. Sprinkle evenly over apples.

5. Bake at 375º for 50 minutes (if crust gets too brown early on, cove the edges of the pie crust with foil and continue baking). You can also use a pie shield!
