1 (4 lb 12 oz) Box of Borax (detergent aisle)

1 (3 lb 7 oz) Box of Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda (detergent aisle)

1 (3 lb) Container of OxyClean (detergent aisle)

1-2 Bars of Fels Naptha Soap (detergent aisle) --Zote also works.

1 (4 lb) Box of Arm & Hammer Baking Soda (cooking or detergent aisle)

1-2 (28 oz) Bottle of Purex Crystals Fabric Softener- I use the purple one.
Directions:

1. Grate bar soap with cheese grater or food processor. (I use a cheap dedicated grater--not as hard as you think!)

2. Mix all ingredients together in a large bucket or storage tub.

3. Use 2 -4 Tablespoons per laundry load*

4. Store in airtight container.

*Use half for HE machines.

I discovered this recipe on howdoesshe.com a few years ago. I didn't consider myself the DIY detergent type until I read about this one---I made it and I'm hooked! It smells fabulous, works great & saves a bundle! I have since convinced lots of people that this is their new detergent.
