1/2 tsp. cloves
1 cup raisins
1/2 cup nut meats
1 - 1/2 cups apple sauce, (homemade is by far the best to use)
2 - 1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup hot water
2 tsp. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Place raisins and water in glass bowl and microwave until water boils. Set aside to cool.
Cream sugar and shortening, add salt, spices and applesauce, stir to blend. Add flour and soda and stir. Drain raisins and measure the water adding additional water to make 1/2 cup. Add raisins, nuts and water to mixture and mix until well blended.
Grease a 9 x 13 inch pan and pour the batter into the pan, spread evenly. I also like to make cup cakes or mini muffins with this batter.
Bake at 350º F until tooth pick come out clean. Cool cake and frost with any butter cream frosting.
Yes, this cake does Not contain any eggs! But it is moist and flavorful.
