2 lbs. fresh green beans
4 - 5 slices of bacon, fried
1 - 1/2 cups water or chicken broth
1/2 tsp. black pepper
Salt to taste
1 small onion, diced, (optional)
1 small can mushrooms, drained, (optional)
1/2 cup slivered almonds

Directions:
Directions:
Trim ends of beans, snap into 1 inch pieces. Wash beans well.
Fry bacon in pot, break into pieces. Add beans and onions to pot with salt and pepper.
Add water or chicken broth to beans.
Cook until tender, (about 45 minutes). Add mushrooms and cook 15 to 20 minutes longer.
Add almonds for garnish.
Note: You can add potatoes if desired.
