1 1/2 cups original Bisquick mix.
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup milk or water
2 tbsp. shortening
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg

TOPPING
1/2 cup flaked coconut
1/3 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup chopped nuts
3 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. milk

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour 8" square pan or 9" round cake pan, or spray with flour. In large bowl, beat all cake ingredients with electric mixer on low speed 30 seconds, scrapping bowl occasionally. Pour into pan.

2. Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool slightly, about 15 minutes.

3. Set oven control to broil. In small bowl, mix all topping ingredients until crumbly. Spread topping over cake. Broil cake with top 3" from heat about 3 minutes or until is golden brown.

Found this recipe in a Bisquick Cookbook Rita found at a flea market in Florida. As soon as I saw it I remembered Mom use to make it. The recipe was on a box of Bisquick. One serving is 310 calories and it is worth every calorie.
