Cake:
2 c. sugar
2 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter
1/2 c. solid shortening
4 T cocoa powder
1 c. water
1/2 c. buttermilk
2 eggs
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
Icing:
1/2 c. butter
4 T cocoa powder
1/2 c. milk
1 lb. (about 4 cups) powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Cake: Mix sugar and flour; boil butter, shortening, cocoa, and water. Pour over sugar and flour mixture; stir well. Add buttermilk, eggs, soda, and vanilla; mix well. Pour into a 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch pan. Bake at 400º for 20 minutes. Five minutes before cake is done, prepare icing.

Icing: Boil butter, cocoa, and milk (very gentle boil). Add powdered sugar and vanilla. Beat well and pour over hot cake.
