1 C Shortening (part butter or margarine)
1/2 C brown sugar
2 eggs separated
1 tsp vanilla
2 C flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 1/2 C finely chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º

Mix shortening, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla.
In a separate bowl, blend flour and salt together, stir into shortening mixture.
Roll dough into balls.
Beat egg whites slightly with a fork.
Dip balls in egg whites, roll in nuts.
Place 1" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Press thumb gently in center.

Bake for 10-12 minutes
