2 tbsp. yeast
warm water
1 cup milk
big stirring spoon of Crisco
1/2 cup sugar
salt
1 cup water
5 cups flour
1 egg
enough flour to make a soft dough

Directions:
Directions:
1. Dissolve 2 tbsp. yeast in warm water ( 1/2 cup?)
2. Scald 1 cup milk
add a big stirring spoon of Crisco to milk
add 1/2 cup sugar to milk
add salt
when Crisco is dissolved add 1 cup cool water
3. Put 5 cups of flour in a bowl
Make a well in the middle
4. Add milk mixture, yeast and 1 egg, stir well.
Add enough flour to make a soft dough (when Marilyn was here
and made this together we added about another cup)
5. Let rise until doubled
6. Make half into buns and roll out the other half for sweet rolls
(or however you want it)
7. Let buns rise
8. Bake at 375º for 18 minutes +/-

Most women that baked bread never had to follow a recipe, it was all in the feel of the bread. Marilyn's rolls were always so good. I make these but have yet to get her wonderful texture. They are good but just not the same.
When they came for a visit she always made rolls for us, usually at least 2 batches. And as all of us remember when we went for a visit we always had homemade bread.
