Ingredients:
Ingredients:
2 c. flour
2 tbsp. sugar
1/2 stick butter
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 tbsp. beer or ginger ale
5 egg yolks
2 tbsp. sour cream
powdered sugar
vegetable oil for frying

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour, sugar, salt, baking powder & baking soda.
Cut butter into flour mixture until it looks like fine chunks.
Beat egg yolks & pour into flour mix. Then add the sour cream and beer. Mix until well blended. Dough will be smooth and not too sticky. If too dry add more beer or sour cream. If too wet, sprinkle flour in.

Divide dough into 3 balls and cover with a bowl until needed.

Dust dough board with flour to prevent sticking. Roll out the dough into a thin rectangle. Using a knife cut the dough into about 2 in. x 3in. strips.

Cut an inch slit in the middle of each strip vertically and fold 1 of the smaller width ends into the slit and pull gently through to make a "bow tie" look with the dough.

Heat the oil in a deep pot and fry a few at a time until golden brown on both sides. Cover top of pot with a foil square to prevent splattering. When done cooking place on a cookie sheet covered with a brown paper bag to absorb the oil.

When completely cool sprinkle generously with powdered sugar and serve.

Personal Notes:
Personal Notes:
The "dough board" is a wooden baking board for rolling out dough and cookies that was given to her by her dad along with a rolling pin. He wanted her to have the " right things in her kitchen for when she got married". She continues to use them both. The metal measuring cup is her favorite to this day.
