Cream together:

1 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg beaten
1 tsp vanilla

Mix together

3 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda

1/2 cup milk

2 cans cherry pie filling

Directions:
Directions:
Add flour mixture alternatively with the milk to creamed mixture until mixed. Grease cookie sheet (jelly roll pan will do)

Pat dough into pan reserving some to crumble on top - 1/2 cup or so. I sprinkle the dough with a little flour to pat into the pan.

Spread pie filling on dough evenly. Sprinkle with reserved crumbled dough.

Bake 350 degrees for 25 - 35 minutes. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or eat cold.
