1 cup powdered sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup poppy seeds
1 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1/3 to 1/2 cup cherry preserves

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 300º F. In a bowl, beat powdered sugar and butter until light and fluffy. Add vanilla and egg; blend well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup, level off. Stir in flour, poppy seeds and salt; mix well. Drop by rounded teaspoon onto ungreased cookie sheet. With finger, make imprint in center of each cookie. Fill each with 1/2 teaspoon preserves. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes until edges are light brown. Immediately remove from cookie sheet.
Makes 2 - 1/2 dozen
