1 24-28 oz. can whole tomatoes
2 16 oz. cans tomato sauce
1 large onion chopped
1 tbsp. minced garlic
1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. Italian sausage (ground)
1 tsp. Italian seasoning (or to taste)
salt and pepper (to taste)
red pepper flakes (to taste)
1/2 c. grated Parmesan cheese
1 c. grated Mozzarella cheese
1 c. grated Ricotta or other Italian cheese
1 12 oz. pkg Penne Noodles
1 c. Mozzarella cheese for top

Over medium heat, brown chopped onions, garlic, ground beef and Italian sausage together. Add Italian seasoning, salt, pepper and a few red pepper flakes. Add canned whole tomatoes and sauce. Simmer on low 25 minutes.

Cook noodles for 10 minutes and rinse in cold water. Set aside 3 cups sauce. Mix noodles with all three of the cheeses and add in the 3 c. of reserved sauce.

In a large pan (at least 9x13 or larger) layer noodles and remaining mixture in two to three layers. Sprinkle the last c. of Mozzarella cheese on top.

Bake 25 minutes @ 375º or until bubbly.
