1 c scalded milk
3 T sugar
1 t salt
4 T shortening
1 pkg dry yeast
3 T warm water
1 egg, beaten
3 to 3 ½ c flour

Directions:
Directions:
Stir sugar, salt and shortening into warm milk. Cool to lukewarm.

Mix together yeast and warm water. Add this mix and the egg to the cooled milk mix.

Add flour starting with 3 cups and adding more of necessary to form a soft dough. Mix well.

Place dough in a greased bowl. Cover with a towel and let rise 1 hour. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Roll out (or pat out) to about ¼ inch thickness. Cut into circles with a large biscuit cutter or large rimmed glass. Fold dough almost in half to form a Parkerhouse roll. Place on cookie sheet and let rise 1 hour.

Bake at 450º for 5-8 minutes.
