2 lbs dried white navy beans (small white beans)
2 medium onions, chopped
500 g (1 lb) smoked boneless ham.
1 cup molasses
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp ground black pepper
salt or use salt pork (to taste)
2 tsp dry mustard
1/8 tsp cinnamon
water

Soak Beans overnight. Drain and rinse.
Boil the beans for 30 minutes, until they are "half soft". (this is important)
Place onions and ham in bottom of crockpot.
Drain beans, and put in crock pot.
In a saucepan mix and bring just to a boil:
Molasses - Brown Sugar - Vinegar - Pepper - Mustard - Cinnamon - 2 cups Water
Pour over the beans in the crockpot.
Add enough water to just cover the beans plus 1/2 inch.
Cook on High for 10 to 12 hours. Add water if necessary until the beans are soft.
Stir every every 2 hours. To thicken,cook with the lid off the last two hours.

This one comes from the Internet, authored by a Mrs. Hajar Ayaou. She knows her beans! This is sweeter version of baked beans. Use less molasses and brown sugar if you want it less sweet. This is Mark's absolute favourite dish. This and Beef Stew!
