3/4 cup (1 1/2 sticks) unsalted butter at room temp + more for greasing the pan 3/4 cup unsalted cocoa + more for pan 3/4 cup flour 1/2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp salt 1 cup sugar 3 large eggs 1 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup sour cream

GLAZE: 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream 4 oz coarsely chopped semisweet chocolate
Place choc in med bowl. In small sauce pan bring cream to a boil. Pour over chocolate; whisk smooth. Let cool until thick yet pourable, 2-3 minutes.

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter an 8 inch cake pan; line with waxed paper. Butter the paper and dust with cocoa powder tipping out excess; set aside.
2. In a med bowl, sift cocoa, flour, baking powder and salt, set aside. In a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time, then beat in vanilla. Lower speed to add flour mix alternately with the sour cream, starting and ending with flour mix.
3. Spread batter into pan. Bang pan several times to remove any air bubbles. Bake until toothpick comes cleaan or about 30-35 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool 10 minutes in pan; invert over a rack to cool completely. Gently remove waxed paper. Pour glaze over cake on rack sitting over a rimmed baking sheet and gently spread to coat entirely. Let stand until set. Garnish with choc shavings or dust with powdered sugar and serve with whipped cream.
