2 cups milk, scalded
1 cup Grape-Nuts
1 beaten egg
1/4 cup salad oil
3 cups sifted flour
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. salt
4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Pour hot milk over Grape-Nuts; cool, add egg and oil. Sift dry ingredients and add with raisins and nuts to Grape-Nuts mixture. Stir just till dry ingredients are moistened. Turn into greased 9x5x3 inch loaf pan; let stand 20 minutes. Bake in slow oven (325º) about 65 minutes or till top is browned.

This came from the old Farm Journal magazine and has been my favorite quick bread recipe for over 50 years. It gets better 2 or 3 days after baking, if it lasts that long!
