First Layer:
1 1/4 c all-purpose flour
1/3 c packed brown sugar
1/2 c butter/ margarine

Second Layer:
2 eggs
1 1/4 c packed brown sugar
1 tbsp all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1/8 tsp salt
1 c medium-grind coconut
1/2 c chopped walnuts
1/2 c maraschino (or candied) cherries (cut up)

Icing:
1 c icing sugar
2 tbsp butter/margarine
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 tbsp water or milk

Directions:
First Layer: Crumble ingredients together well. Press into 9"X9" pan. Bake at 350º for 15 minutes.
Second Layer: Beat eggs slightly and add the rest of ingredients in order given. Spread over first layer. Return to oven for 25 minutes, until brown.
Icing: If desired. Beat all ingredients together in small bowl, adding water if needed for texture. Spread over cool squares.
