Crust:
2 1/2 cups flour
1 T. sugar
1 tsp. salt
1 cup shortening ( butter flavored Crisco)
1 egg yolk & milk to make 2/3 cup milk (save the egg white)
Filling:
2 1/2 qt. apple slices
4 T. flour
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 1/2 cups sugar
Frosting:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 T. Butter or Oleo
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. almond extract

Heat Oven to 350º Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour.
For crust mix all dry ingredients first then add shortening and egg yolk plus milk. Mix well.
Roll out half the crust and put into a jelly roll pan.
Filling: Mix all ingredients together and put into the jelly roll pan on the bottom crust.
Roll out the last half of the crust. Put on top of the filling. Use the left over egg white and whip with a fork and then spread over the top of the top crust. I use my hand to spread it...if you had a bakers brush that would work also.

If you have juicy apples you might want to add up to 1/2 cup flour rather than 4 T.
