"The tradition of Italian cooking is that of the matriarch. This is the cooking of grandma. She didn't waste time thinking too much about the celery. She got the best celery she could and then she dealt with it."--Mario Batali

Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1cup semi- sweet chocolate morsels (6 oz)
1 cup butterscotch morsels (6oz)
1 can sweetened condensed milk
1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Walnut halves (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate and butterscotch morsels with sweetened condensed milk in top of a double boiler over hot (not boiling water) Stir occasionally until morsels melt and the mixture begins to thicken. (about 20 Minutes) Remove from heat. Add chopped walnuts and vanilla. Blend well. To microwave: put all in container and melt of 5%. When fully melted follow rest of directions. Chill or about an hour.

Spoon into circles to form ring. Decorate with cherries or spoon on top of whole walnuts. At Christmas I decorate as a Christmas wreath with red candied cherries for the holly berry and the green for the leaves. Makes a nice gift. I usually make about 4 rings from one recipe. I like them smaller.

Chill in refrigerator until firm enough to slice..

I keep it in the refrigerator until ready to serve, because it tends to get soft.

Personal Notes:
I found this in some magazine around 1980. It was an advertisement for Borden sweetened milk and Nestle's morsels. I have made it every Christmas since I found the recipe. I also added the microwave directions.
