Cake bottom:
1 box yellow cake mix
1 large egg
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cups corn syrup

Cake Top:
3 large eggs
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2 cups pecans, chopped

Cake bottom:
Preheat oven to 350 ºF. Mix cake mix, egg and butter until well blended. Reserve 2/3 cup of batter to use with cake top. Spread the remainder of the batter into a greased 9” x 13” pan and bake for 15 minutes or until lightly browned.

Cake top:
Mix reserved batter with syrup, eggs, brown sugar, vanilla and pecans. Pour this mixture on top of crust and bake for 50-60 minutes.

To make this recipe gluten free, the following ingredients will need to be replaced: yellow cake mix. A gluten free brand that works well in this recipe is Betty Crocker's gluten free yellow cake mix.
