Ingredients: 1 gallon cucumbers 1 dozen small white onions 1/2 cup salt 4 cups sugar 1 tsp celery seed 2 tbsp. white mustard seed 2 tbsp. powdered horseradish 1 tsp whole cloves 1/2 tsp turmeric vinegar as needed to almost cover

Directions:Slice cucumbers and onions very thin. Mix with salt. Let stand in fridge overnight. Drain. Place cucumbers and onions in large preserving kettle. Spread sugar & spices over the top. Add diluted vinegar until it almost covers. Bring to boiling. Bottle & seal. To dilute vinegar, use 3 cups vinegar and 1 cup water. |

Notes: This was a recipe my father (Reedus) got from a friend and he and my mother (Helen) made a batch. I don't think they ever made another batch after this one. I do remember having these jars around for a while so maybe they lasted a long time. HAHA I think you make things like this when as Maw-Maw would say...So poor didn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of.
