1 cup soft butter
2/3 cup white sugar
2/3 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour, unsifted
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking powder
2 cups quick cookie oatmeal, dry
1 cup chocolate chips

Directions:

Combine butter with white and brown sugars in a medium or large mixing bowl. Beat well until fluffy. Scrape sides of bowl often. Add eggs and vanilla; beat again until light and fluffy. Scrape sides of bowl often. Blend or sift flour, spices, salt and baking powder until well mixed. Add about one-half of flour mixture to bowl with butter and sugar. Beat well. Add second half of flour mixture and beat again until well mixed. Stir in oatmeal and half of the chocolate chips.
Spread evenly in an ungreased 9 inch square pan. Sprinkle remaining chips on top. Bake in preheated oven at 350º for 20 to 25 minutes or until browned and the bars have pulled away a little from the sides of the pan. Cool.
