1 lb. ground beef
1 lb. pork sausage
1 lg. onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 can tamales, pureed
1 small jar salsa, hot
1 small can green chili peppers, chopped
1 14 oz. can tomatoes chopped
2 large cans kidney beans
1 14 oz, can tomato sauce
1 1/2 tbsp. chili powder
1 1/2 tbsp. ground cumin
1 tbsp. ground red pepper
1/2 tsp ground jalapeno pepper
1/2 tsp. gumbo file'
1 tbsp. cayenne pepper

Directions:
Brown meat, drain and remove meat from pan. Saute' onions, pepper and garlic in grease and remove from pan. Dump all ingredients in a slow cooker or large pan on the stove and simmer for several hours. Adjust seasonings to taste. If too spicy, can be salted down to tone down some of the spice. Water can be added as needed during cooking.

Gumbo file' and ground jalapeno can be omitted and other spices used to add heat to the recipe.
